Today, the EcoWise Certified stakeholders are meeting to review where we have been and where we are going. The landscape of players in the market for certifying green pest control companies has changed. Some say it is for the better and some say it is for the worse.
EcoWise, like Green Shield, was never meant to have large numbers of certified companies, rather those that stand out for their practices. Therein lies a good part of the funding issues these entities face.
Without a governmental mandate for this type of program, it is unlikely to have a profit model that allows its’ continuation short of further government support and grants. It’s only natural that industry based programs, such as GreenPro (otherwise known as QualityPro Green) will have a different agenda. Maybe the only way for there to be sustained market competition regarding green pest control standards is for there to be more than one commercially based green certifying program?
Whatever the future direction takes, it is worth noting that I have met some incredible folks at EcoWise, people with a passion for service, people with integrity. I would love to name them here, though I think it best to hold back. Each one has a place in my heart.
